1. Hotel New Otani Osaka
-
Located right next to the Osaka Castle Park, away from the busy downtown
area. Still, it is 3min walk away from the "Osaka Business Park" subway
station, and it takes about 30min to the Conference site.

There will be a special tour to the 380 years old turrets of Osaka Castle
which are not open to the general public. A sightseeing boat on the river
departs from a pier next to the hotel. The Disney musical, the "Lion King",
is being shown at the theater next to the hotel. (It is in Japanese, in
Osaka dialect even, but do you think children would care?).

Family members can enjoy strolling through the big park. Recommended for
people coming with family members.

The hotel has a huge lounge, and it has many boutique shops and restaurants
inside.

This is one of the top level hotels in Osaka, but offered at a reasonable
price for Conference participants.

The Conference Banquet will be held at this hotel.

Non-smoking rooms are available.

A swimming pool is open from 7:00-10:00 and 12:00-20:00, Monday through
Saturday. It is open from 7:00-17:00 on Sunday. There is a 2500 Yen charge.

2. Hotel the Live Artex

Located near the Conference site and "Tanimachi 9-chome" subway station.
-
Spacious rooms with a living room area and a kitchen area. Some cooking
utensils are available. It looks more like a studio condo than a hotel
room.

There is one person who speaks English at the front desk, but the person
is not present 24 hours a day.
-
There are no coin-operated laundry machines in the hotel.

As of May 17, all the rooms are booked.

3. Miyako Hotel Osaka
-
Located in the busy Uehonmachi downtown area near the Conference site.
Convenient for various modes of public transportation, as it is located
right next to the Kintetsu railway station, the limousine bus stop, and
the Tanimachi 9-chome subway station.

Large rooms by the Japanese standard, with a small round table.

Non-smoking rooms are available.

Some rooms are not equipped with RJ-11 phone jacks, but they will come
and make it available for you. If you intend to use a laptop computer at
the hotel, it is better to notify them beforehand.

A swimming pool is open from 8:00 - 20:30, but closed on Thursday. There
is charge of 2500 Yen + tax.

4. Holiday Inn Nankai Osaka
5. Osaka Namba Washington Hotel Plaza

Located close to the "Nipponbashi" subway station which is one stop away
from the "Tanimachi 9-chome" station for the Conference site and one stop
away to the "Namba" station for dining and shopping.

The rooms are small.

Non-smoking rooms are available.

There are no coin-operated laundry machines in the hotel.

English capability of the person at the front desk varies from person to
person.

6. Hotel Keihan Tenmabashi Osaka

Located close to the "Temmabashi" subway station which is 5min away from
the "Tanimachi 9-chome" station for the Conference. Osaka Castle is within
walking distance.

The rooms were refurbished recently. Medium size rooms by the Japanese
standard.

There are 6 coin-operated laundry machines in the hotel.

There are four people who can speak English at the front desk, but they
are not present 24 hours a day.

7. Hotel Nankai Namba

Located in a less crowded area; a 5min walk to the "Daikokucho" subway
station.

Medium size rooms by the Japanese standard. Every room has a small kitchen
corner with water, electric stove, and a microwave oven.

Free breakfast (coffee and toast) is available 7-10AM on the first floor.

There are coin-operated laundry machines in the hotel.

People at the front desk speak some English. There is one person who speaks
fluently.

9. Hotel Repos Futaba

Located 2min walk away from the "Tanimachi 4-chome" subway station, in
a less busy area.

The front desk is located on the second floor.
-
Small to medium size by the Japanese standard, but the rooms with two beds
(twin) are larger for its fare.

Beds are 120cm wide.
-
Non-smoking rooms are not availalbe.
-
Coin-operated laundry machines are available near the hotel.
-
A person who speaks fluent English is available 10AM-7PM every except Sundays.
Rest of the people speak some English.

On Sunday and Monday, if you make a reservation, breakfast with croissont
sandwich is available on the 2nd floor for 800 Yen. On other days, Japanese
style breakfast is available on the 1st floor (no reservation required)
for 800 Yen.

10. Hotel Awina Osaka

Located near the Conference site.

Medium size rooms by the Japanese standard.

Non-smoking rooms are NOT available.

Each room is equipped with a small refrigerator.

English capability of the people at the front desk varies.

If you are working for a public or private university in Japan, (a member
of Kyosai), then make a reservation directly to the hotel, instead of asking
JTB, to get a better rate.

Between 0:00 and 7:00, the hotel will be closed, and only a security personnel
will be present.

This hotel is only for the people who receive the financial support from
the LOC, and the reservation is handled by the ICHEP2000 LOC, instead of
JTB.

Located near "Izumi no Hiroba" in Osaka Umeda area.

The hotel was built in 1998.

14. Toko Hotel

This hotel was recently added to the list of hotels handled by JTB for
the Conference.
