2. From Kansai International Airport (KIX) to KKR Hotel Umeda

2.1 First, get some cash.

After passing through the customs, stop by a bank counter or an ATM machine on the first floor to get some Japanese Yen. This may be your last chance to exchange your cash unless you have a major currency.

2.2 KIX --(Airport Limousine Bus)--> Hotel New Hankyu --(walk)--> KKR Hotel Umeda

• Time: 90min = <10min> for waiting + 65min by bus + 12min on foot
• Fare: 1300 Yen
• 2.2.1 At Kansai International Airport
  1. Exit the terminal building, and go to one of the ticket vending machines which are located near bus stop #5 in area "C".
  2. Deposit 1300 Yen or more (the machine will return any change), and press the orange button labeled "Osaka Sta." to buy a ticket for the Limousine Bus.
     [For children of age 6-11, deposit 650 Yen or more, lift a blue plastic plate and press the button under it. Children under 6 are free.]
  3. Get on the Airport Limousine Bus at the bus stop #5. All the busses leaving from #5 make a stop at Hotel New Hankyu, but it does not hurt to ask. Give the white bus ticket to the driver.
  4. The bus leaves every 20-30min until 23:30, as shown in the time table.
• 2.2.2 At Hotel New Hankyu
  1. There are two spots (within 20m) where the bus will stop at Hotel New Hankyu. Look around, and walk to the bus stop for leaving for "Airport Limousine for Kansai Intn'l Airport, Osaka Intn'l Airport".
  2. Look up, follow the sign for "Hankyu Railway Umeda Station" and walk straight for 30m(?), and you will come to an icecream shop "Hagen Dazs".
  3. In front of Hagen Dazs", turn right, and take a moving walkway.
  At the end of the moving walkway, follow the signs for "Hanshin Railway" and walk under an archade with "Hankyu Department Store" on your right.
  4. After walking through an area with a tall ceiling with a church like structure and stained glass windows, walk straight ahead, and take the stairs down following the signs for "Subway Tanimachi Line".
  5. You are now in an underground mall. Turn left, and walk into "EAST MALL" and straight ahead for 250m. The place you should look for is "Izumi no Hiroba".
  6. You will come to a circular area with a water fountain at the center. This is "Izumi no Hiroba".
  7. Take the stairs up under the sign "Shampia Hotel" (Exit M10). The stairs will split to two, so take the ones on your right.
  8. Walk straight ahead for 50m. You will find "Seattle's Best Coffee" (in Osaka!) and "Yoshinoya". The KKR Hotel Umeda is on your left. (Look for 'KKR' in alphabets.)

3. From Osaka Itami Airport (OSA/ITA) to KKR Hotel Umeda

3.1 Cashing Service

A currency exchange service is NOT available at Osaka Itami Airport. Therefore, you should obtain cash in Japanese Yen at or before arriving at Narita Airport or Fukuoka Airport.

If you do not have Japanese Yen at this time, the last resort is to use an ATM card to get some cash. The ATM operated by VISA is located at the center of the 2nd floor of the North Terminal building, about 20m to the left from the Information Counter. The ATM accepts VISA, MasterCard, Cirrus, PLUS and Diners Club, but NOT American Express. The machine is available from 6AM until 9PM every day. You can only get cash in the multiples of 10,000 Yen.

3.2 OSA/ITA --(Airport Limousine Bus)--> Hotel New Hankyu --(walk)--> KKR Hotel Umeda

• Time: 70min = <15min> for waiting + 40min by bus + 12 min on foot.
• Fare: 620 Yen
• 3.2.1 At Osaka Itami Airport
  1. If you arrived at the North Terminal by Japan Airlines (JAL) or Japan Air System (JAS),
     exit the terminal building, walk towards the right, and you will find vending machines for bus tickets.
  2. If you arrived at the South Terminal by All Nippon Airways (ANA),
     exit the terminal building. There are vending machines for bus tickets, and a bus information counter near Bus Stop #13.
  3. Deposit 620 Yen or more (the machine will return any change), and press the 10th button from the left (usually marked in orange) for "Osaka Station" displaying "620". The vending machines accept 1000 Yen, 5000 Yen, and 10000 Yen notes, and coins. Credit cards are not accepted. [For children of age 6-11, deposit 310 Yen or more first. Depending on the machine, either press the "Child" button first and then press "310", or press the button for children located under a plastic cover. Children under 6 are free.]
  4. Get on the Airport Limousine Bus leaving from bus stop #6 at the North Terminal, and #16 at the South Terminal. Make sure that the bus stops at "Hotel (New) Hankyu".
  5. The bus leaves every 30min until 21:25. The last bus is bound for Fukushima, but makes a stop at Hotel New Hankyu.
• 3.2.2 At Hotel New Hankyu

4. From Shin-Osaka JR Station to KKR Hotel Umeda

4.1 Cashing Service

A currency exchange service is NOT available at Shin-Osaka Station. The ATM machines located on the 3rd and 2nd floor do NOT accept VISA and MasterCard credit cards issued by foreign banks.

4.2 Shin-Osaka --(subway Midosuji Line)--> Umeda --(walk)--> KKR Hotel Umeda

• Time: 20min = <8min> for connection + 6min for subway + 8min on foot.
• Fare: 200 Yen
• 4.2.1 At Shin-Osaka
  1. Go through the gate at the Central Exit by inserting all of your JR tickets all together into the gate. The tickets will not be returned. If you have a JR Pass for foreigners, go through a gate by a station employee instead of going through the automatic gate.
  2. After leaving the Central Exit, turn right, and follow the "subway" sign to the Shin-Osaka subway station for the Midosuji Line on the floor one below.
  3. Deposit 200 Yen or more into a ticket vending machine, and press the button displaying "200" to buy a ticket for "Umeda".
  4. Go through the entrance gate for the subway Midosuji Line by inserting the ticket into the gate. Take your ticket which will be returned at the other end of the gate. You will need it when you leave the subway.
  5. Take a train from platform #1 (for Umeda, Namba, Nakamozu). Although the subway is running above ground, it will soon go underground; do not panic.
• 4.2.2 At Umeda
  1. Get off at Umeda which is the 3rd stop.
  2. Follow the signs for Exit 13.
  3. Go through the gate by inserting the ticket into it. Since you have arrived at the destination, the ticket will not be returned.
  4. After passing the gate, follow the signs for Exit 13, turn left, and walk into CENTER MALL. If you are not sure, ask which way the "Izumi no Hiroba" is.
  5. After walking for 100m, you will come to the intersection (underground) between East Mall, North Mall, and the Center Mall which you just came through.
  6. Walk straight ahead into EAST MALL
  7. Walk 200m, and at the end of EAST MALL, you will come to a circular area with a water fountain at the center. This is Izumi no Hiroba.
  8. Take the stairs up under the sign "Shampia Hotel" (Exit M10). The stairs will split to two, and take the ones on your right.
  9. Walk straight ahead for 50m. You will find "Seattle's Best Coffee" (in Osaka!) and "Yoshinoya". The KKR Hotel Umeda is on your left. (The 'Hotel Umeda' part is written in Japanese, but at least the 'KKR' is in alphabets. :)

5. From KKR Hotel Umeda to the International House, Osaka (i-House)

5.1 KKR Hotel Umeda --(walk)--> Higashi Umeda --(subway Tanimachi Line)--> Tanimachi 9-chome --(walk)--> i-House

• Time: 30min = 8min on foot + <3min> for waiting + 10min (subway) + 7min on foot.
• Fare: 230 Yen
• 5.1.1 From Hotel KKR Umeda
  1. After walking out of the hotel, turn right (west), walk 50m, and walk down the stairs marked "M-10" at the "Sonezaki Higashi" intersection down to "Izumi no Hiroba" in underground
  2. Follow the sign for "JR Osaka Sta." and walk through EAST MALL for 200m.
  3. You will come to an intersection between CENTER MALL, NORTH MALL, and EAST MALL which you just came through.
  4. Turn left and follow the signs for the Subway Tanimachi Line until you come to ticket vending machines.
• 5.1.2 At Higashi Umeada
  1. Deposit 230 Yen or more, and press a button showing "230" to purchase a ticket to "Tanimachi 9-chome".
  2. Follow the signs for "1 for Temmabashi, Tennoji, Yao Minami", and go through the gate by inserting the ticket into it. The ticket will be returned to you at the other end of the gate.
  3. Get on the subway at platform #1 (for Temmabashi, Tennoji, Yao Minami).
• 5.1.3 At Tanimachi 9-chome ('que-choh-may')
  1. Get off at Tanimachi 9-chome which is the 5th stop.
  2. Follow the signs for "Exit 5" to the gate.
  3. Follow the signs for Exit 5.
  4. Go through the gate by inserting the ticket into it. Since you have arrived at the destination, the ticket will not be returned.
  5. After passing the gate, turn right and follow the yellow signs for "Exit 5", (or the signs for Tanimachi Line if you do not see them) and go up to the ground level at Exit 5.
  6. You are standing at the Tanimachi-9 intersection. Turn 45 degrees to your left (south) and start walking the Tanimachi-suji street.
  7. After walking for 250m, you will come to the "Ikutama Minami" intersection. Cross the intersection, walk another 250m in the same direction, and you will come to the next intersection with traffic lights.
  8. Turn left (east), walk 300m, and before hitting a major road, you will find the International House, Osaka on your left.

6. From KKR Hotel Umeda to Toyoko Inn Umeda Nakatsu

5.1 KKR Hotel Umeda --(walk)--> Umeda --(subway Midosuji Line)--> Nakatsu --(walk)--> Toyoko Inn Umeda Nakatsu

• Time: 30min = 8min on foot + <3min> for waiting + 2min (subway) + 3min on foot.
• Fare: 230 Yen
• 6.1.1 From Hotel KKR Umeda
  1. After walking out of the hotel, turn right (west), walk 50m, and walk down the stairs marked "M-10" at the "Sonezaki Higashi" intersection down to "Izumi no Hiroba" in underground
  2. Follow the sign for "JR Osaka Sta." and walk through EAST MALL for 200m.
  3. You will come to an intersection between CENTER MALL, NORTH MALL, and EAST MALL which you just came through.
  4. Walk straight ahead to CENTER MALL, and walk 100m.
  5. You will come to a underground intersection where you see MacDonalds, and Hanshin Department Store on your left. Turn right, and you will find vending machines for the subway.
• 6.1.2 At Umeda
  1. Deposit 200 Yen or more, and press a button showing "200" to purchase a ticket to "Nakatsu".
  2. Go through the gate for the subway Midosuji Line by inserting the ticket into it. The ticket will be returned to you at the other end of the gate.
  3. Get on the subway at platform #2 (for Shin-Osaka, Senri Chuo).
• 6.1.3 At Nakatsu
  
  1. Get off at Nakatsu which is the next stop.
  2. Follow the signs for Exit 4 and take stairs C to leave the platform.
  3. Go through the gate by inserting the ticket into it. Since you have arrived at the destination, the ticket will not be returned.
  4. After passing the gate, follow the signs for Exit 4 and go up to the ground level.
  5. Walk 90m in the same direction (south), and you will pass by "God Mountain Cafe".
  6. Take the next left turn into a narrow street (before reaching the large intersection with an overpass for trains).
  7. The hotel is the second building on your left.
