1. About Hotel New Otani Osaka
2. From Kansai International Airport (KIX) to Hotel New Otani Osaka
2.1 First, get some cash.
After passing through the customs, stop by
a bank counter or an ATM machine on the first floor
to get some Japanese Yen.
This may be your last chance to exchange your cash
unless you have a major currency.
Ways to get to the Hotel New Otani
There are two ways to get to the Hotel New Otani.
If you can catch the 16:45 bus, choose
2.3. Otherwise, choose 2.2.
2.2 KIX --(Airport Limousine Bus)--> Uehonmachi --(taxi)--> Hotel New Otani Osaka
- Time: 90min = <15min> for waiting + 55min (bus) + 20min (taxi)
- Fare: 1300 Yen (bus) + about 1500 Yen (taxi)
- 2.2.1 At Kansai International Airport
- Exit the terminal building, and go to one of the
ticket vending machines which are located near bus stop #7
in area "B".
- Deposit 1300 Yen or more
(the machine will return any change),
and press the orange button labeled
"Kintetsu Uehonmachi" to buy a ticket for
the Limousine Bus.
[For children of age 6-11,
deposit 650 Yen or more, lift a blue plastic plate and
press the button under it.
Children under 6 are free.]
- Get on the Airport Limousine Bus at the bus stop #7,
and give the white bus ticket to the driver.
- The bus leaves every 20-30min until 22:00.
- 2.2.2 At Uehonmachi
- After getting off the bus at Uehonmachi,
find a taxi, and say "Hotel New Otani, please".
The taxi costs about 1500 Yen as indicated by the meter.
Tips are not given in Japan.
2.3 KIX --(Airport Limousine Bus)--> Hotel New Otani (if you can catch the 16:45 bus)
The bus leaving at 16:45 from bus stop #7 goes all the way to
Hotel New Otani, after stopping at Uehonmachi.
Read instructions in 2.2 for more details.
The ticket costs the same 1300 Yen.
The bus is scheduled to arrive Hotel New Otani at 18:03.

From Osaka Itami Airport (OSA/ITA) to Hotel New Otani Osaka
3.1 Cashing Service
A currency exchange service is NOT available
at Osaka Itami Airport.
Therefore, you should obtain cash in Japanese Yen
at or before arriving
at Narita Airport or Fukuoka Airport.
If you do not have Japanese Yen at this time,
the last resort is to use an ATM card to get some cash.
The ATM operated by VISA is located at the center of the
2nd floor of the North Terminal building,
about 20m to the left from the Information Counter.
The ATM accepts VISA, MasterCard, Cirrus, PLUS
and Diners Club, but NOT American Express.
The machine is available from 6AM until 9PM every day.
You can only get cash in the multiples of 10,000 Yen.
Two ways to get to the Hotel New Otani
There are two ways to get to the Hotel New Otani.
If you can catch one of the buses leaving at 18:30, 19:35, and 20:20, choose
3.3. Otherwise, choose 3.2.
3.2 OSA/ITA --(Airport Limousine Bus)--> Uehonmachi --(taxi)-->
Hotel New Otani Osaka
- Time: 65min = <15min> for waiting + 30min by bus + 20min by taxi.
- Fare: 620 Yen (bus) + about 1500 Yen (taxi)
- 3.2.1 At Osaka Itami Airport
- If you arrived at the North Terminal by Japan Airlines (JAL)
or Japan Air System (JAS),
exit the terminal building, walk towards the right,
and you will find vending machines for bus tickets.
- If you arrived at the South Terminal by All Nippon Airways (ANA),
exit the terminal building.
There are vending machines for bus tickets, and
a bus information counter
near Bus Stop #13.
- Deposit 620 Yen or more (the machine will return any change),
and press the 3rd button from the left
displaying "620".
The vending machines accept 1000 Yen, 5000 Yen, and 10000 Yen
notes, and coins.
Credit cards are not accepted.
[For children of age 6-11, deposit 310 Yen or more first.
Depending on the machine, either press the "Child" button first
and then press "310", or press the button for children located
under a plastic cover.
Children under 6 are free.]
- Get on the Airport Limousine Bus leaving from bus stop #0 at the North Terminal,
and #10 at the South Terminal.
- The bus leaves every 10-30min until 21:10.
- 3.2.2 At Uehonmachi
- The bus arrives at Kintetsu Highway Bus Center on the 2nd floor
of the building next to Miyako Hotel Osaka.
After getting off the bus, walk about 120m
in the same direction as the bus, and you will come to the entrance
of Miyako Hotel Osaka.
- In front of the Miyako Hotel,
find a taxi, and say "Hotel New Otani, please".
The taxi costs about 1500 Yen as indicated by the meter.
Tips are not given in Japan.
3.3 OSA/ITA --(Airport Limousine Bus)--> Hotel New Otani Osaka
- Time: 50min
- Fare: 620 Yen
- The buses leaving at 18:30, 19:35, and 20:20 go all the way to
Hotel New Otani Osaka, after stopping at Uehonmachi.
Just follow the instructions in 3.2.1.

From Shin-Osaka JR Station to Hotel New Otani Osaka
4.1 Cashing Service
A currency exchange service is NOT available
at Shin-Osaka Station.
The ATM machines located on the 3rd and 2nd floor do NOT
accept VISA and MasterCard credit cards issued by foreign banks.
Ways to get to Hotel New Otani Osaka
There are several ways to get to Hotel New Otani Osaka.
If you are traveling light, and do not mind stairways, use JR
(4.2).
If you have heavy luggage and want to avoid carrying them
up stairways, use the subway (4.3).
If you do not even want to walk with your
luggage and do not mind paying 2500 Yen, take a taxi
(4.4).
4.2
Shin-Osaka --(JR)--> Osaka --(JR Osaka Loop Line)-->
Osakajo Koen --(walk)--> Hotel New Otani Osaka
- Time: 30min = <8min> for connection +
4min (JR) + <6min> for connection +
10min (JR Osaka Loop) + 3min on foot.
- Fare: 170 Yen or free depending on your ticket.
- 4.2.1 At Shin-Osaka
- After getting off the Shinkansen, follow signs which say
"JR Lines", and go to the
gate for "Transfer to JR Lines".
- Insert all of your tickets all together into the gate.
You will receive one of the tickets back.
If you are using a JR Pass for foreigners, go through
a gate by a station employee instead of going through
the automatic gate.
- Go to platforms 15 and 16.
- Take any train which comes to these platforms.
- 4.2.2 At Osaka
- Get off at Osaka station which is the next stop.
- Follow the signs for "Osaka Loop Line" to
the platforms at the very end without platform numbers.
- Take a train which arrives at the platform indicated by a
green arrow with a sign
(for Kyobashi, Osakajo Koen, Tsuruhashi, Tennoji).
This is called "Sotomawari" (outside loop).
- Even if you take a train on the other platform,
"Uchimawari" (inside loop),
it will just take 19min longer.
- 4.2.3 At Osakajo Koen
- Get off the train at Osakajo Koen
which is the 4th stop.
- Climb up stairs to the exit. There are no escalators.
- Go through the gate by inserting the ticket. The ticket
will not be returned.
- Turn left, and before crossing the pedestrian
bridge, walk down the stairs on your right hand side.
- Walk 200m straight ahead to the intersection with traffic lights, and cross
the road.
- Hotel New Otani Osaka is the second building after the
intersection.
4.3
Shin-Osaka --(subway Midosuji Line)-->
Shinsaibashi --(subway Nagahori Tsurumi Ryokuchi Line)-->
Osaka Business Park (OBP) --(walk)--> Hotel New Otani Osaka
- Time: 40min = <8min> for connection + 12min (subway) +
<5min> for connection + 12min (subway) + 3min on foot.
- Fare: 270 Yen
- 4.2.1 At Shin-Osaka
- Go through the gate at the Central Exit by inserting all of your
JR tickets all together into the gate. The tickets will not
be returned. If you have a JR Pass for foreigners,
go through a gate by a station employee instead of going through the
automatic gate.
- After leaving the Central Exit, turn right, and follow
the "subway"
sign to the Shin-Osaka subway station for the Midosuji Line on the floor
one below.
- Deposit 270 Yen or more to a ticket vending machine,
and press the button displaying
"270" to buy a ticket for "Osaka Business Park
(OBP)".
- Go through the entrance gate for the subway Midosuji Line
by inserting the ticket into the gate.
Take your ticket which will be returned at the
other end of the gate. You will need it when you leave the subway.
- Take a train from platform #1 (for Umeda, Namba, Nakamozu).
Although the subway is running above ground, it will
soon go underground; do not panic.
- 4.3.2 At Shinsaibashi
- Get off at Shinsaibashi, which is the 6th stop.
- Follow the light green subway signs which say
"Nagahori Tsurumi Ryokuchi Line" (take stairs "A") and
go to the platforms for the Nagahori Tsurumi Ryokuchi Line.
- Take a train from platform #1 (for Kyobashi,
Kadoma Minami).
- 4.3.3 At Osaka Business Park (OBP)
- Get off at Osaka Business Park (OBP), which is the
6th stop.
- Go through the gate by inserting the ticket into it.
Since you have arrived at the destination, the ticket will not
be returned.
- After passing the gate, turn right and follow the yellow
signs for "Exit 1".
- After getting outside, walk straight ahead for 200m,
with a road and a river on your right hand side.
- The hotel is the first building after the "MBS theater" showing
the musical "Lion King".
4.4 Shin-Osaka --(taxi)--> Hotel New Otani Osaka
- Time: 15-30min
- Fare: about 2500 Yen
- 4.4.1 At Shin-Osaka
- Exit the gate at Central Exit by inserting all the JR
Shinkansen tickets into the gate. The tickets will not
be returned. If you have JR Pass for foreigners,
go through the gate with a station employee instead of going through the
automatic gate.
- After leaving the Central Exit, follow
the "taxi" sign and exit the building on the same floor.
- Find a taxi and say "Hotel New Otani Osaka, please".
- It will cost about 2500 Yen but it depends on the traffic.
Pay the amount indicated by the meter.
Tips are not given in Japan.
5. Hotel New Otani Osaka to the International
House, Osaka (i-House)
5.1 Purchase a Rainbow Card
We strongly recommend you purchase a prepaid card called
a "Rainbow Card".
With this, you do not have to purchase a ticket every time you
get on the subway. Also, you do not need to find out how much
it will cost to the destination.
(Note that not all the maps at the stations have English.)
Just insert the card every time you go through a gate, and
the fare will be subtracted from your card automatically.
You can use this card also for other train systems, except for
JR and Kintetsu.
Rainbow cards are available at subway stations.
At a light blue ticket vending machine, enter the amount you want (or more),
press "Rainbow Card" button with an orange sign,
and press
the button showing the amount you want to purchase.
The cards are available for 1000 Yen, 2000 Yen,
3000 Yen and 5000 Yen.
Commuting between the hotel and i-House for 7 days alone will cost 3220
Yen, and more if you go to Namba for dinner etc..
5.2 Hotel New Otani Osaka --(walk)-->
Osaka Business Park (OBP) subway station
--(subway Nagahori Tsurumi Ryokuchi Line)-->
Tanimachi 6-chome --(subway Tanimachi Line)-->
Tanimachi 9-chome --(walk)--> i-House
- Time: 30min = 3min on foot + <5min> for waiting +
6min (subway) + <6min> for connection +
2min (subway) + 7min on foot
- Fare: 230 Yen
- 5.2.1 From Hotel
- Exit the hotel, and walk west by a river on your
left hand side. Walk by the MBS Theater which is showing
the "Lion King". After 200m, you will find entrance #1 to
the Osaka Business Park (OBP) subway station.
- 5.2.2 At Osaka Business Park (OBP) subway station
- Purchase a Rainbow Card at a ticket vending machine.
Otherwise, deposit 230 Yen or more and
press a button showing "230" to buy a ticket to Tanimachi 9-chome.
- Go through the gate by inserting a Rainbow Card
or a ticket into the gate.
Do not forget to retrieve the card or ticket which
will be returned at the other end of the gate.
- Get on a train from platform #2
(for Shinsaibashi, Taisho). Get on near the front of the train if you can,
for an easier connection.
- 5.2.3 At Tanimachi 6-chome ('Roku-choh-may')
- Get off the subway at Tanimachi 6-chome,
which is the 3rd stop.
- Follow the purple sign which says
"Tanimachi Line",
climb stairway D at the end of the platform,
and go to the platforms for Tanimachi Line.
- Get on a train from platform #1
(for Tennoji, Yaominami).
- 5.2.4 At Tanimachi 9-chome ('queue-choh-may')
- Get off at Tanimachi 9-chome which is
the next stop.
- Follow the signs for "Exit 5" to the gate.
- Go through the gate by inserting the Rainbow Card or ticket.
If you have a Rainbow card, make sure you retrieve the
card which will be returned at the other end of the gate.
A ticket will not be returned.
- After passing the gate, turn right and follow the yellow
signs for "Exit 5",
(or the signs for Tanimachi Line if you do not see them)
and go up to the ground level at
Exit 5.
- You are standing at the Tanimachi-9 intersection.
Turn 45 degrees to your left (south) and start walking
the "Tanimachi-suji" street.
- After walking for 250m, you will come to the "Ikutama Minami"
intersection. Cross the intersection, walk another
250m in the same direction, and you will come to the next intersection
with traffic lights.
- Turn left (east), walk 300m, and before hitting a major road,
you will find the International House, Osaka on your left.
